Volunteer with Fellow New York Alumni!

Join the USF New York Alumni Chapter for our 2025 Stampede of Service as Bulls across the country unite to demonstrate the collective impact of our USF community. This year, we are proud to partner with City Harvest, New York City’s largest food rescue organization, for a hands-on volunteer experience at their Food Rescue Center in Brooklyn.

At the Food Rescue Center, volunteers play a vital role in supporting City Harvest’s mission to rescue and deliver millions of pounds of nutritious food for New Yorkers facing food insecurity. According to City Harvest, volunteers at this site help repackage large quantities of fresh produce into smaller, family‑sized portions that community food programs can easily distribute. Much of the food arrives in bulk containers from farms and wholesalers, and volunteers ensure it is sorted, organized, and prepared efficiently for delivery to neighborhoods across the five boroughs.

Volunteer Responsibilities Include:

  • Sorting and inspecting fresh produce to ensure quality before distribution
  • Repacking thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables into manageable, family‑sized bags
  • Assisting City Harvest staff in organizing bulk donations for partner food programs
  • Supporting the overall workflow of the Food Rescue Center to keep operations running smoothly

This service opportunity is part of a USF‑wide initiative to showcase Bull pride and community impact. By volunteering together, we demonstrate the strength of our alumni network and our shared commitment to addressing food insecurity and supporting local communities.

Please RSVP below and be sure to complete registration on City Harvest's site. Go Bulls!
