Session Three: Taking Control of Your Finances: A Workshop on Taxes and Retirement

Do you ever wonder where your paycheck goes or how your savings will be taxed in retirement? This workshop will explain taxes and help you confidently plan for your future. Join us to gain the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions and build a more secure future.

You will learn to:

  • Interpret your paycheck deductions by identifying federal, state, Social Security, Medicare and other withholdings, so you know exactly where your money is going.
  • Understand the importance of diligent recordkeeping, identifying which receipts and expenses may qualify for tax deductions or credits to maximize your returns.
  • Compare the benefits and tax implications of different retirement savings options, including 401(k), Traditional IRA and Roth IRA accounts, to find the best fit for your financial goals.
  • Explain when and how taxes are assessed on various income sources, including wages, self-employment income, investment gains and retirement withdrawals.
